What is Tipino?
Think of it as your central tipping pot that distributes your support to the artists you enjoy at the moment. No cancelling subscriptions and breaking hearts – the artists you listen to get a slice of this month’s cake.
But, how?
You keep listening on the streaming service you love. Inside Tipino, you choose either the artists you want to support – or: connect Tipino with Spotify and we automatically support the artists you listen to!
Do you support other streaming providers?
For the start, we only support Spotify. And yes, this even works with a free Spotify account.
We plan to integrate more streaming providers as soon as Tipino grows.
How much does music cost?
Older ones among us used to buy a few CDs or records per month for around €20 each. With Tipino, you choose how much music is worth to you per month (€5 minimum). You decide on the size of the cake.
How does Tipino split the cake?
You choose your favorite artists and change them any time. Or, even better: you connect your Spotify account to Tipino and we automatically split the cake depending on which artists you listened to in any given month.
Why?
Streaming platforms pay more per stream to well-known artists who for many users are the reason they subscribe to the service. Tipino aims to bring fair-trade to smaller artists and help them create and inspire.
Does my cake feed the “rich”?
Our goal is to support smaller artists – so, no. We only distribute to artists under 500K monthly listeners. We believe artists with over 500K monthly listeners have built multiple income streams and a live audience. Keep attending their gigs, though! However, you of course still can listen to the more famous artists. They will just not be tipped by Tipino.
Can I keep to smaller artists?
You absolutely can! You can choose the upper limit of “monthly listeners”. We have a lower limit of 200 “monthly listeners” for spam protection. As independent artists ourselves, we are sure fresh new artists can reach that quite soon.
Does Tipino like cake?
We are a not for profit registered association in Switzerland. As such, we’re not that much into cake. We take a small slice to cover the costs of running and developing this platform. Our goal is to maximize the impact – and minimize the percentage of platform costs over time. Spreading the word helps a lot – thanks for bringing along friends!

- You create a Tipino account
- You connect your Spotify account*
- You pay a certain amount per month, lets say € 10.–
- A small fee goes to the payment provider
- A small fee goes to Tipino for keeping up the service
- The largest part of your amount will be distributed to the eligible artists you listen to, based on the listening time
* Alternatively, you can choose some artists between which your monthly tip is being split.
